Development of a Tool for Measuring Student Academic Resilience
Abstract
Student academic resilience is a student's ability to adapt, face, and experience failure. Resilience is a concept that shows an individual's ability to overcome and adapt to difficult times. Therefore, appropriate measurement instruments are needed to determine the student's level of resilience. This research aims to develop a Resilience instrument for students based on the theory of Reivich and Shatte, (2002). From the results obtained, the research instrument on Student Resilience can measure the level of student resilience using aspects, namely the resilience aspect according to Reivich and Shatte (2002); 1. Emotion Regulation, 2. Impulse Control, 3. Optimist, 4. Causal Analysis, 5. Empathy, 6. Self-Efficacy ), 7. They are reaching out (Ability to achieve what you want). Data was analyzed quantitatively using the "Student Resilience" scale. A total of 307 student respondents, research data was tested using Cronbach's Alpha (Aiteman) and produced (α=0.877). The item test results showed that Cronbach's alpha was in the high category (α=0.877), so the "Student Resilience" scale in this study was good. From the results of research on Student Resilience, it can be seen that students' adaptability is influenced by social factors, perseverance, self-confidence, ability to control themselves and ability to control emotions.
