Development of Academic Procrastination Scale in University Students in Samarinda City
Abstract
This study aims to develop an academic procrastination scale instrument that can be used to detect the occurrence of academic procrastination in students in Samarinda City. Academic procrastination is the behavior of delaying academic activities. The sampling technique used in this study was simple random sampling with data collection using a Likert scale distributed using Google form with a total of 270 student respondents collected. Based on the results of the aspect test consisting of delays in starting and completing tasks, motivation to complete work, poor time management, and cognitive or personal initiative from several aspects, the score is 0.87 and the Cronbach alpha reliability test results get a score of 0.911. So, this academic procrastination scale in students can be concluded to be valid and reliable. The scale instrument can be utilized by students or various parties who collect data, especially regarding academic procrastination. Keywords: academic procrastination, academic assignment, students
