PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN COMPUTATIONAL THINKING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS BERITA PADA KELAS VIII SEKOLAH INDONESIA DAVAO, PHILIPPINES

Abstract


This research aims to improve student learning achievement in News Text lessons by applying a Computational Thinking approach in grade VIII at the Indonesian School in Davao, Philippines. The learning outcomes in question include the level of student participation and their ability to write news texts. This research uses a classroom action research method consisting of two cycles, with each cycle consisting of one meeting. Each meeting is divided into four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data analysis was carried out using quantitative and qualitative analysis methods. The results showed an increase in student activity from one cycle to the next, with the average score increasing from 3.0 (good) to 3.5 (very good). Students' learning abilities also increased from one cycle to the next, with the percentage of classical completion increasing from 77 percent in cycle 1 to 84.6 percent in cycle 2, with the average score increasing from 75 to 80. Data from the second cycle showed that the classical completeness has reached the target set at 80 percent. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the Computational Thinking approach can increase the participation and ability to write news texts for Grade VIII Students in Indonesian School of Davao, Philippines.
