Abstract

This study aims to address the problem of how to improve the performance of Kudus Police Personnel through employee ability and professional competence with the influence of cross-functional coordination effects. The population of this study was all members of the Kudus Police Traffic Unit totaling 118 people. The sampling method used was the census method, where the number of samples was the same as the population. Data were collected through closed questionnaires with statement intervals from 1 to 5, using a scale of Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree. Data analysis was carried out using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The results of the study showed a positive and significant influence of employee ability and professional competence on the performance of police officers. In addition, cross-functional coordination was also shown to have an important role in moderating the relationship between individual ability and performance. The managerial implications of these findings are the need to focus on developing individual abilities, improving professional competence, and improving coordination between units within the police organization. Future research can further explore the complex dynamics behind police officer performance, through an in-depth qualitative study approach or evaluation of intervention programs. Thus, this study has the potential to contribute to improving the overall performance and effectiveness of the Kudus Police.
