Improving The Quality of Life of Hypertension Patients Through The Competence of Health Workers at The Elderly Posyandu of Jiken Community Health Center
Abstract
Abstract. Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that is a public health problem in Indonesia. The high prevalence of hypertension can cause a decrease in the quality of life of sufferers. One effort to improve the quality of life of hypertension sufferers is through increasing the competence of health workers in providing services and education to patients. This study aims to analyze the effect of health worker competence on the quality of life of hypertension sufferers at the Elderly Posyandu of Jiken Health Center. This study uses a mixed method with a sequential explanatory approach. In the first stage, a quantitative study was conducted with a cross-sectional design using a questionnaire to measure the competence of health workers and the quality of life of hypertension sufferers. In the second stage, a qualitative study was conducted with in-depth interviews and observations to explore the factors that influence the competence of health workers and the quality of life of hypertension sufferers. The results of the study showed that there was a significant positive relationship between the competence of health workers and the quality of life of hypertension sufferers. Factors that influence the competence of health workers include training, motivation, and support from the health center, while factors that influence the quality of life of hypertension sufferers include medication compliance, lifestyle, and social support. This study provides practical recommendations to improve the competence of health workers through training and incentives, and improve the quality of life of hypertension sufferers through effective education and counseling programs. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of hypertension management programs in elderly health posts and improve the quality of health services for hypertension sufferers.
